What to do in Benidorm

The four golden sandy beaches of Benidorm – Levante, Poniente, Mal Pas and La Cala stretch for miles and combined with the 5 separate theme parks here it’s easy to understand why Benidorm is such a popular holiday destination. There are also numerous other activities such as Karting, Cable Ski, Parasailing, Segway Tours, Downhill Bike Rides and Jeep Safari’s that can be arranged, the choices are virtually unlimited – the only factor stopping you is time.

For a day away from the beach – and bar, try one of the theme parks. Each have facilities within to buy food and drink if you don’t want to take your own.

There are two fantastic water parks in Benidorm – Aqualandia and Aqua Natura which are great when the weather is sweltering and you want to cool down.

Aqualandia is the bigger of the two and if you are thrill seeker, then this is definitely the one for you. The multi-coloured water slides are quite iconic on the Benidorm skyline and their newest attraction, Vertigo is the tallest capsule slide in the world - measuring 33 metres, so not for the faint hearted! Height restrictions apply to some of the slides but there is certainly enough to keep everyone amused. Located in the Rincon de Loix the number 1 or 11 bus goes right to the front entrance – alternatively, there is a massive free car park if driving.

AquaNatura is located beside Terra Natura Wild Life Park, a stones throw from Terra Mitica. It is smaller than Aqualandia and possibly more suited to children but still has a good selection of slides and shoots, a wave pool, waterfall, free sea lion show twice daily and even a sandy beach! The number 1, 3 and 15 buses all go to the entrance but here there is a €5 charge for the car park.

Mundomar is a marine animal park directly next door to Aqualandia, which also has many exotic animals. A relaxing park offering plenty of shows throughout the day such as parrot, sea lion and dolphin. You can also pre-book (2 days notice required) a unique sea lion or dolphin experience, which enables you to get in the water with them.

Terra Mitica – A theme park with a multitude of rides, including a 360 degree rollercoaster and swinging pendulum for the adventurous thrill seekers plus a number of water rides and shows suitable for the entire family. Beautifully landscaped grounds with plenty of shady areas and a swimming section with Jacuzzi, so don´t forget to take your swimwear and a towel.
